The Free Spirit of the Great Divide

I will usually get a burst of inspiration to make a piece of art on a whim while out in the mountains where I live.

While hunting along side the beautiful Great Divide mountains that divide British Columbia and Alberta, I saw an Eagle soaring high with the sunshine touching his wings from the West, while a dark storm was rolling in from the East.He was intangible, dancing on the cusp of the two polarities; the East and the West, the sun and the storm, the mountains and the prairies...

It made me think of where we seem to be today; divided between the right and the left, the good and the evil, the light and the dark with “mountains” in between.

The Eagle is courageous enough to fly alone, embracing the storm rolling through The Great Divide, while the other birds will take cover.

Riding out the storms with the light forever touching his wings, he knows he is free.
